It's Sunday early evening and I'm working....something that next to no one in France can say they are doing at this time! Most of my friends are finishing up their day of skiing, and I'm here working.
O and did I mention that my boss hasn't paid us? Yep, our pay was due on Feb 1....it's Feb 24. What a great guy, I'm so happy to work over my weekend extra hours on his project.
YUCK!
On another note...the hubs and I are fighting (over working all weekend & still not being preggo).
Basically this morning went like this:
-Woke up...took a pregnancy test. I'm due for AF (aunt Flow) on Tuesday....it was NEGATIVE...just like the other 50 I've taken thus far. I'm defeated, but honestly it's expected since we only tried 4 times (due to David working until 1-4am every single night this month) so I wasn't that upset.
-David rolled over about an hour after that, I told him it was wierd that the test was negative since I'm having a few funny symptoms. He proceeded to tell me that I need to stop stressing, that it will happen when its meant to happen, that I shouldn't get so worked up.
Which in turn MAKES ME worked up & upset ab the situation. I start to feel shitty, and like I will never get preggo.
-We leave for church, where I proceed to CRY....in church. How embarrassing!! I was atleast able to pull myself together for communion.
-After church we poured drinks at reception, where everyone gathers for a bit of socializing. Here a friend proceeds to ask when we're having kids. I take a deep breath, trying not to cry, and say that we're leaving it up to God (since we've tried everything known to man, I didn't tell him this, but I was def thinking it!).
And now it's 6pm, and I should be in full relatxation mode, but NOPE...I'm working.
What is today's lesson?? Hmmm....that God has a master plan for an amazing child and an amazing career for David & me and that I just need to have a little patience!! Shit, I hope so!
Oh and did I mention that David's drug addict, loser friend ( I use that term loosely, more like an acquaintance) just had a baby yesterday. Oh and he has medical debit (from a drug overdose) of something like $40k. Great guy, totally deserving of a child. Lesson to be learned here?? Life isn't fair!!
Awesome weekend, can't wait for the week!
Bonjour, I'm an American Expat living in Monaco here to share my stories, experiences, trials and tribulations but mostly just to have fun. Here you will find anything from food, wine, travel, dogs, fashion, gossip and more....enjoy!

The Weekend Wrap Up
Phew...this weekend FLEW by.
Friday we were scheduled to meet with our clients to present their projects, but unfortunately the workload was too much and we were forced to pushed the meeting to Saturday. I despise Saturday meetings, but this one wasn't too bad:
1. The client LOVED everything. Small tweaks here and there, but overall everything was approved and is now moving forward YAY.
2. We had lunch at the restaurant (for free) after our meeting...love that perk!
3. Ran into friends while having our FREE lunch, and got a chance to catch up.
After that we hustled to the car rental place to pick up our ride for the weekend.
We drove to Limone (just 1.5 hours drive from Monaco). We left Monaco around 5pm, so we were in Limone around 7pm since we took a pit stop when one of the doggies got car sick with all the windy, twisty switch backs into the mountains. We arrived to our hotel: hotel marguareis....which was THE ONLY HOTEL WITH A ROOM. We booked last minute and had to pay the consequences. We arrived (with the dogs) and the first thing I notice on the door is the NO DOGS sign. Ah, shit....o well we will sneak them in. Checked into our room, no probs. Changed our clothes and went out to meet our friends for dinner. On our way back the hubs says "check out is tomorrow at 10:30am, what are we gonna do with the dogs while we ski tomorrow?". O man...small crisis.
After dinner, we stop at the front desk to book another night since clearly we can't check out at 10:30am. The lady proceeds to tell me that they can't keep us in our room they will have to move us. Ok, no probs. Then we head back to our room for bed. Let's make a note regarding this hotel...our room smells like piss, the bed cover is disgusting and smells so much that I can't sleep because it bothers me so much. Not to mention the bed and pillow are like sleeping on cement. Oh yea, and the walls are so thin that I can hear some other guy snoring all night. Needless to say we got an AWESOME night of sleep.
Wake up in the morning, head downstairs for breakfast. Not much to choose from...yogurt, cereal, a hot croissant, coffee and hot cocoa. The lady from the front desk comes over to our table to let us know that they have to put us in a different room for the following night, and it won't be ready until 2om...so they will just move our stuff into our new room once it's ready. PROBLEM....we have our doggies (who are staying here illegally). So we are forced to tell them about the dogs. They get pissed, and call a different hotel for us to stay in. All I can say is THANK GOD.
Our new hotel is nice and clean, the staff is friendly, bathroom is better AND we have a balcony with an amazing view. La Piazzetta, needless to say we will be staying here next time we visit Limone. Here's the link if you need it: http://www.lapiazzettalimone.it/!
So our Sunday morning was a bit stressful with the hotel move. But we finally head out to rent our ski gear and get to the mountain...and have an amazing day of skiing with great weather, great friends and only a few falls!! After that we headed back to the hotel where I proceeded to get the chills, and feel like shit. O NO...I'm getting the flu. I feel like I couldn't get warm and I proceed to get an excruciating headache which continues until mid day on Monday. No good.
Here I am Monday at workie, and finally have taken some Tylenol to get rid of the headache....so now I'm feeling pretty good and happy with a nice little weekend. Here's to another great week ahead of us!!

16 Ways To Not Blow My Marriage
So as you all know, I'm obsessed with Pinterest...and I found this gem there today and got to thinking about my own life and my own relationship.
And I realized that some of the things on here, my hubs and I are totally guilty of. Shame on us, and with the wonderful season of lent upon us...I think we will not only work on our relationship with God, but our relationship with eachother!
So in response to Dan's 16 ways be blew his marriage...here are 16 ways that I will try to avoid blowing mine.
1. Don't stop holding hands....ok, check this one we do and do often!
2. Don't stop trying to be attractive. I admit, with the cold and gross weather when I'm home I don't always get myself put together. But this is an easy one that I can fix!!
3. Don't always point out weaknesses. Hmmm, this will be a hard one since David's weakness of procrastination may be impeding our future. But I guess I can try...
4. Don't stop cooking for eachother...ok, check. We still do this one as well.
5. Don't yell at your spouse. Hollering for another cookie from the couch is bad manners, ugh...even with a 50m2 apartment I totally find myself doing this. Having grown up with a younger brother, his job was to do all my dirty work while I lounged languidly (alliteration...yay me) on the couch. I guess I shouldn't make my poor hubs be the slave I made my bro be. Ok, David, you're getting an upgrade. From now on, I will drag my sorry ass off the couch to get whatever I need**.
**Unless one of the dogs are sitting on my lap, it would be absolutely terrible to disrupt them!!
6. Don't call names. I must sound like a mah-jor bitch because I am constantly nagging on poor David....but I guess I will try to curb that. But again, I can't help it if he's impossible to deal with sometimes.
7. Don't be stingy with money. Ok, check...we already do that. We have our budget and mostly stick to it. So here we are good!
8. Don't argue in front of kids. Our fur babies don't understand english, ok that's a lie....they totally do, but they don't mind if we argue. SO we're good here! And hopefully soon, when the stork finally decides to make it all the way to MONACO to drop off our baby, we will definitely NOT argue in front of her. You hear that Mr. Stork...we will be the best, most amazing, most deserving parents ever. So how's about you pay us a visit, ok??
9. Don't encourage one anther to skip working out. Check and check...this we totally do not do. Normally we are trying to encourage one another TO work out.
10. Don't poop with the bathroom door open. Ok, I'm not even going there...Done and DONE....
11. Don't stop kissing. Check and check....we smooch everywhere we go. Restaurants, trains, planes, automobiles. HELLO I married a Brazilian, he's totally into the PDA thing!! YAY for moi!
12. Don't pressure one another. Oh, you mean my expectations of David supporting me fully after having our baby is pressure? Ok, sorry...I will stop doing that.
13. Don't stop having fun together. Not gonna lie, we're in a rut....it's pretty bad. I mostly blame it on the weather. Oh and the fact that we just took a 1 month vacay to the US and Brazil, so funds are pretty tight. But I'm telling you, if we don't do "something fun" to get out of the house next weekend, I may commit suicide (please all of you serious ppl out there, this is a joke, I value my life WAyyyyyy too much to do something as silly as that). But yea, seriously, we need to do something fun and SOON!
14. Don't label eachother with negative labels. Ah, that sounds easy enough, even if David is a lazy idiot. I totally can handle this(again, joking ppl!!)!
15. Don't skip out on things that are important to him. Ok, I won't, wait....what's important to him that I might skip out on?? Hmm, dunno so I'm not going to worry about it!
16. Don't emotionally distance yourself after a fight. Naw, not us....when we fight big we make up big. No distance between us here :)
Now that I have my personal business all out there....how's ur relationship measure up to all these things? Are there some things you should fix? Not gonna lie, I'm pretty proud of my relationship. Not that it's 100% perfect, there's always more work to be put in. So why not start today?

No Buns in This Oven - YET!
Yay, guess what came in the mail today? Our ovulation prediction kit!!
Remember how I mentioned we were trying to conceive?? Well it's been over 3 months now, and we're pulling out the big guns!
I'm currently reading "Eat, Love, Get Pregnant" by Niels Lauersen about changing our diet to prep for a baby, and to continue eating this awesome diet while preggo since it's the best nutrition for a developing baby. It's basically adding 5 or more of the following per day: walnuts, avocado, bluberries, raspberries, pomegranite, quinoa, brown rice, oranges, sweet potato, celery, ice cream (yes, you read that right)...the list goes on, but I'd hate to bore you!
In addition I ordered some ovulation predictor sticks, which basically measure your LH (Luteinising Hormone) levels, and during a spike is when you are ovulating. Giving us a 24-36 hour window to "do the deed" to try to make our little one.
We decided to take the month of Feb off, and start again in March since I was getting a bit worked up over the fact that it hadn't happend for us yet and to give our new diet a chance to start. But I plan on trying out the ovulation predictor strips to see if I'm even ovulating...which could be the reason for our lack of pregnancy yet.
I'm excited to have a plan in place and work the plan, and to soon become parents! baby dust!!

Positivity for a New Week
Well, it's the start of another week....and here's to moving forward and hoping that this week is better than last.
Last week was full of tears, disappointment, loneliness, anger, isolation, poor eating, too much drinking, laziness, and numerous other things that were bad and not how I want to live my life.
Therefore this week will be full of: fun, friendship, laughter, smiling, eating healthy, drinking in moderation, running and exercising, cleaning and more!
I already started the week out right with this cute little outfit to make me feel more confident and walk a little taller.
So here's to a great, awesome, wonderful, amazing week tout le monde!!

Long Time No See
I know, I know....I haven't posted in quite some time. But I'm back and here's an update:
End of December, the hubs and I flew to Miami for a long awaited (year-long to be exact) vacay! We spent an amazing week and a half with my parents at their condo in the Keys...Islamorada to be exact. During that time David's parents flew in for 3 days from Kansas to spend some q time with their son...whom they hadn't seen in over 2 years.
Then, on Jan 4 we flew to Brazil for a 10 day visit. We staying 2 nights in Rio, 5 nights in Buzios and then 3 nights in Sao Paulo. David's from Brazil, and hadn't been back home in over 10 years. Mainly because we keep planning out major trips for other amazing places. But FINALLY I was able to see where he was from. Let me tell you...Rio is an amazing city with a vibe that just can not be described. In Rio we stayed in the area named Santa Teresa, and it was just perfect in every way. Nice shops, restaurants and bars in the area, plus we felt super safe which is not the case in all of Rio. We did the touristy things like, visited Ipanema and Leblon beaches.
After that we were off to Buzios, which is where I fell in love. The people, the beaches, the weather...everything was just perfect. It felt like the first time in many years, that I could really breathe. I didn't have a care in the world, just relaxed and had a romantic getaway with David.
Our final stop in Brazil was Sao Paulo, David's birth place. Here we stayed at a friends place, and David got to visit with all of his long lost buddies. The city of SP is just so big, and overwhelming we didn't really know what to do, but luckily we had David's friends to show us around. After being away for 10 years David didn't really know what to do, or where to go. The weather took a turn, and was much colder and rainier than I was expecting so we mainly went to the mall, and had coffee breaks...which was nice and gave us a chance to hang and chat with David's friends.
After SP, we flew back to Miami for our last few days to spend with my parents and relax a bit more.
Now that I'm back in Monaco I'm having a bit of a hard time adjusting. I'm missing my friends and family, and the winter weather here has me kind of down. It's so bad that I just looked up flights to go back home.
To be perfectly honest, I think it's a combination of uncertainty at work, struggles getting pregnant and being all alone. I mean, obviously I have David...but sometimes you need more. I'm basically crying as I write this, and sometimes things are hard because then otherwise you wouldn't appreciate the good times but I'm majorly questioning this entire journey.
-Why am I here?
-What is God trying to teach me?
-How am I becoming a better person by going through these difficulties?
Its funny because Monaco and Monte Carlo sounds so glamorous, and I'm sure if I were to tell any stranger that I was unhappy with my move to Monaco they would probably laugh in my face. People think that Monaco is this wonderland, full of fun and joy and beauty....but the truth is it's full of expats looking for the next best thing, crooks trying to hide money, or billionaires spending loads of money on pathetic material goods that make them even more lonely and more pathetic than they were to start off.
My goal for the day...stop being so negative, and know that everything happens for a reason. I hope I can maintain my sanity in the meantime and not buy this plane ticket home, admitting defeat. Wish me luck....

Post Berlin Blues
Went to Berlin this weekend with a group of 6 people! It was an amazing trip filled with underground night clubs, amazing South Korean food (best thing since gangnam style for sure), good shopping, superb sight-seeing, and many many laughs and good times!
We checked into the Michelberger hotel in East Berlin around Noon on Saturday, and we loved the hotel lobby so much we proceeded to have a few beers here just chilling and looking at maps to plan our next move. We decided to go for traditional German food for lunch, and got some half-assed directions from the lady at reception and off we went into the FREEZING COLD!
30 min later we found the place, which really should have taken us about 10 min...but hey we got lost. Poor Marion, who was dying for Shnitzel was brutally rebuffed and told that the restaurant only had the buffet and it was open for just 1 hour more. We quickly indulged in this amazing buffet, filled with slow cooked beef, amazing veggie stew, roasted potatoes, some sort of delicious Camembert cheese mix and many, many other things. After eating our hearty meal, satisfied with our 20€ per person including drinks we headed off to do some shopping. We jumped on the underground and got off at weinemeister, where there was great shopping. Hello Hugo Boss, Sandro, All Saints and more amazing places...but with our budgets we were relegated to Zara, Mango and H&M. Found some great deals, and we were all set for our outfits for the night!
After a quick trip back to the hotel to clean up and get ready, we were off again to an underground restaurant in a warehouse....still not sure what the name was. Sadly when we arrived after 10pm, they were out of the mussels and out of the fish. Which was devastating for a couple of friends, but for me...I opted for the Beef and blood sausage ravioli soup. Um, I was not disappointed. After dinner we walked over to the bar since it was still too early to venture downstairs to the nightclub. We sipped on Tempranillo and Prosecco until around 1am when we made our move downstairs. The downstairs was like an Alice in Wonderland, drug den surrounded by people completely out of their minds on drugs. After aimlessly dancing to shitty trance music we called it a night around 4am.
PS. This was the latest I've been out in YEARS, seriously years
The problem with staying out late, is sleeping in the next day. I wouldn't let a little thing like lack of sleep keep me away from exploring the city of Berlin. Around 11am, off we went to fetch some breakfast in order to make it for the 12:30pm meet up for the "Alternative Berlin" tour which left from our hotel lobby. Finding a small cafe just down the street, we ate and felt human again.
Back to the hotel to catch the tour, and somehow we missed it. "No worries, there's another meet up point at the Alexanderplatz Starbucks at 1pm" said the receptionist. Ok, great....off we went into the underground. Somehow we fouled up again, and missed the timing. At this point we decided to take things into our own hands. Getting off at the old trusty, weinmeister strause (or whatever)....we ventured north (I think). Towards the Jewish temple, and towards the Bode Museum. We visited the museum...it was stunning, take your breath away, amazing! Sorry, but Byzantine christian art from 12th century? I mean, it's nearly 1000 years old, there's nothing like beholding a piece of art that existed that long ago. Just think of all the people who enjoy this very thing. Ok, I'll stop because I'm getting a little excited.
Post museum we found some nosh at a random place we walked by which was completely over priced...but hey we were hungry. Then we made our way back to the hotel to freshen up.
We were undecided for dinner so I ventured down to the reception to pick her brain....what do you suggest for a cool ambiance with a cheap price? Definitely Kimchi Princess....South Korean food. Ok, great...and do you have a strip club you could recommend? She blushed....apparently this isn't a fun past time for most people to visit the strip club. Must be an American thing. ANywhoo, she asked around and the bar tender told her of one up the street. Great....and off we went.
Kimchi Princess was an 11 out of 10. The food was outstanding, the drinks were phenomenal and the service was impeccable. The waitress was even sweet when we picked her brain ab strip clubs after about 5 beers in. Finally we had the name of a great place and off we went.
Strip club was great, so great that we AGAIN got home at 4am...which was a complete nightmare for our 11am flight. But by some act of God we made it without me vomiting or the hubs fainting.
Mission accomplished, Berlin, I love you! And now that I'm back at work....I have the post Berlin blues, missing that amazing city. I will be back, I will....
